Army Navy Country Club

Sophisticated site planning, civil engineering and landscape architecture design support Army Navy Country Club's ongoing commitment to providing modern and desirable recreational facilities for today's military and civilian leaders.

Army Navy Country Club (ANCC) was established in 1924 and today encompasses over 500 acres across its two gently wooded sites. From welcoming Admirals, Generals and Presidents to supporting its 7300 military officer and civilian members, ANCC provides recreational and social facilities for those serving the interests of National Defense. To continue providing modern, high-quality amenities, meet changing recreational habits, and unify disparate facilities that resulted from organic growth over a hundred years, the Arlington campus undertook a series of modernizations to build a new club house, enhance racquet sport facilities, and provide landscaping improvements.

To enable construction of the new 103,000 sf clubhouse, VIKA conducted significant utility relocation work, including the Arlington County transmission waterline, and provided site planning and civil engineering services that involved phasing of new building construction while maintaining full operations at the exiting clubhouse throughout construction, including parking, fire access, and required utilities. VIKA’s landscaping design created an expansive new terrace off the clubhouse and used tree plantings to create natural visual buffers between various outdoor and recreational spaces. We also provided stream restoration, a stormwater management plan that supports golf course irrigation, and reforestation of the course.

Most recently, VIKA provided site planning and design for conversion of tennis courts to pickleball facilities and conducted a complete campus survey and utilities sweep that will guide ANCC’s future master plan.
