Contemporary designed brick townhomes integrate traditional material elements, such as masonry, into the design of buildings and streetscapes to promote and maintain the existing style of the community.
Currently, the absence of access from Manor Road to the Capital Crescent Trail presents a significant drawback for the neighborhoods situated to the north and east of the property. Recognizing this challenge, the project takes proactive steps to rectify the situation. A key feature of the plan includes the integration of a Master Plan recommended asphalt shared-use path along the eastern edge of the Preston Site. This critical addition not only bridges the gap between Manor Road and the Capital Crescent Trail but also provides a safe and accessible path for pedestrians and cyclists to access the proposed Purple Line Station. By creating this walking trail, the project seeks to enrich the entire community, providing an asset for leisure and mobility.
In addition, the project is providing a second means of access to the Capital Crescent Trail via the pathway network within the Lake Site, which provides access to the residents of the surrounding community. The construction of both connections to the Capital Crescent Trail will be challenging given existing grades, drainage issues, and the retaining walls proposed as part of the Purple Line and will require significant coordination and planning with the Purple Line contractor.
